Over 100 Oaklins M&A professionals traveled to Hong Kong for the Oaklins Spring Conference and to attend the Chinese Outbound M&A Conference “From The Mouth Of The Dragon – Ambitions Of Chinese Buyers”

Oaklins’ member firm Quam Capital Limited invited Dr. William K. Fung of Li & Fung Limited, Jeff Purdey of Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited, Brett Liu of Oceanwide Holdings Co., Ltd. and James Fok of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited to give their insights into the local M&A and capital markets, outbound M&A targets and drivers, the main sectors of interest and the role of Chinese banks in funding offshore acquisitions.

Richard Winter, Managing Partner at Quam Capital, said: “We were privileged to host this gathering of Oaklins colleagues to experience our dynamic city, here in the heart of China’s economic powerhouse, and learn directly from leading dragons on what is shaping this region.”

John Zhang, Principal at Oaklins HFG China, presented his recently published report “Voice from China” in which he provides a detailed overview about regulations affecting China’s cross-border M&A, recent M&A transactions and acquisitive Chinese buyers.

Caper at Spring conference

Željko Perić, principal and managing partner at Caper, and Joško Vučetić, partner at Caper, an exclusive Croatian member of Oaklins, also attended the conference. Joško held a presentation in which, apart from the Caper’s business review, current projects, and Croatian M&A market, he talked about Caper’s cooperation with other members after joining Oaklins. Also, Joško shared the experiences related to improved marketing initiatives at Caper.

As always, the conference has been a good opportunity to analyze the idea of enhancing the mutual collaboration between our professionals around the globe. The sharing of industry expertise and building personal relationships are key in providing the best possible service to our clients.

The Oaklins Annual Awards

Collaboration between our professionals around the globe, the sharing of industry expertise and building personal relationships are key in providing the best possible service to our clients, hence the importance of our biannual conferences. To acknowledge outstanding cooperation, Oaklins presented two awards during the Friday dinner at The China Club. The winners of this year’s Oaklins Annual Awards are:
Deal of the Year: The Robbins Company (joint project of Western Reserve Partners, USA, Oaklins Germany, and Quam Capital, Hong Kong)
Industry Specialist of the Year: Jonathan Buxton (Cavendish, UK)

Better global coverage and deeper industry expertise

The extension of global coverage and deeper industry expertise is also achieved by further networking, so two new members – IGC Partners from Brazil and KBC Securities from Belgium – were introduced at the conference in Hong Kong.

Oaklins Fall Conference will be held in Milan this November.
